The challenge

How do you inspire citizens to turn frustration about their city into playful, collaborative, community-driven improvements to its public spaces?

My role

  • Together with my co-founder, obtained an official licence and brought 100in1Day to Italy for the first time, making Milan the third European city to host it.
  • Shaped the citizen mobilisation strategy around a series of workshops in different neighbourhoods of Milan, and designed the citizen experience leading up to the day of the event.
  • Led a multidisciplinary team, coordinated sixteen local partners and curated the citizen-led submissions to ensure a balanced mix of creativity, community, music, sport, gardening and more.
  • Secured official support and sponsorship from the Municipality of Milan.
